We all know of that newish show on Cartoon Network of a Elementary School aged boy what runs around with his friends all around his neighborhood and the surrounding area. Clarence is still a relatively new show and older Cartoon Network fans are having mixed feelings about it, some hate it some love it. The show is alright with me and I might get some Meh comments about that, but think about it. Cartoon Network has made waaay worse cartoons...must we remember Secret Mountain Fort Awesome? Lets not go there. So back to my Clarence Theory.

Clarence is home bound or unable to leave his house so he watches Television to pass the time.

Now this isn't going to be some Creepypasta Theory because frankly most of those scare the pants off of me. It's just a simple Theory that I thought up.

Clarence is a pretty lovable kid that even though he can make a lot of mistakes, people still love him despite this. He has and overactive imagination and generally has a zest for life. He has a mother that loves him and a funny goofy step-father. That's one of the things I love about this show. Even though Clarence might know that Jeff isn't his biological father, he doesn't care, he still loves him. Now we've never seen his biological father in the show just yet, but the show is still new so there's a chance that he might come along in later shows. Now Clarence's mother is trying her best to raise a child with an overactive imagination and who doesn't seem to meet a stranger.

Which brings me to my next point. Clarence doesn't know a stranger and everyone generally loves him...which is weird. Normally you wouldn't let a child go wandering off on their own around town, there's a high chance that something bad will happen to the child. So why is Clarence and his friends usually by themselves when their wandering around town? Maybe because Clarence can't leave his house.

Think about it. Clarence has an overactive imagination and in the opening of the show it shows him staring at a television before clicking it on. In my Theory that's the true Clarence. Why can't he leave his house? Because he has an injury that needs him to be rested or the divorce his mother went through traumatized Clarence and he's scared to leave the house or his mother is scared of losing him.

Normally when couples with children get divorces they usually have to go to court to settle who keeps the kids or sharing them through joint custody. Maybe Clarence's biological father isn't exactly the type of person you want around your kid. So his mother is trying to keep him safe by keeping him bound to the house. Or the divorce really hurt Clarence and he doesn't want to leave the house. Divorces can be very tough on children because they can feel like they caused the divorce or somehow had a role in their parents splitting up.

Now I hope this isn't true because Clarence is a lovable kid.

Great theory!

My parents got divorced and I never felt like it was my fault- and I still don’t think that. I forgot most of the stuff that happened when they were married so that’s probably why-  I also get to see my dad sometimes.
